December 12, 2009 : Tree Lighting
Each year, the Westbury/Carle Place Chamber of Commerce actively participates in the tree lighting ceremonies conducted by the Villages of both Carle Place and Westbury. The Chamber provided hot chocolate and cakes and donuts to large crowds of citizens in each community. The Westbury celebration included music by a brass trio and the grammar school music ensemble. Photos below, are of the Westbury celebration, held on the grounds of the Recreation Center on Post Ave. Members of the Board of directors act as servers for these events, and enjoy interacting with the parents and children of the communities.
Nov. 8, 2009 : Gala Buffet and Two to Split $5K Prize
The Westbury/Carle Chamber of Commerce Event of the Year, our Reverse Raffle, was held November 8, 2009, at the Holiday Inn on Old Country Rd, in Westbury. Following a buffet dinner, the drawing was held in reverse order, and two winners were selected. Carol O’Sullivan of Old Westbury, and Karin Franchino of Westbury were the Lucky Ticker Holders. Barbara Hessler of Carle Place won our 50/50 Raffle to complete the event.

ELECTION OF DIRECTORS
On Tuesday, May 5, 2009, the election of directors will be held at the Holiday Inn, 369 Old Country Road, Carle Place at 6:30 PM. All paid members are encouraged to take part in the election of directors.
The nominees for directors are Nancy Barreno-Z, Jeannette Cirrisi, Karin Franchino, Marjory Giordani, Alan Halpern, John Heslin, Jeff Horan, Vickie Laura, Xia Leto, Michael Levine, Stephen McCabe, Ben Pardo, and Jackie Pardo.
BY-LAW AMENDMENTS
Also, at the May 5, 2009 meeting, two motions will be made to amend the Chamber’s By-Laws to, first, require Officers to either reside or have their place of business within the Chambers’ boundaries, and, second, to expand the number of Officers to include a 2nd Vice President and a 3rd Vice President with the intent of the three Vice Presidents chairing selective committees.
April 21 : Chamber Meetings & Events
The Chamber members Welcome Reception, held at the Westbury Manor, Tuesday evenng, April 21st was very well attended. After cocktails, the group enjoyed a fine buffet dinner, followed by the presentation of a check in excess of $ 5.000.00 by our co-partner, MapToons, for the completion of our MapToons project; deemed to be a huge success. The residents of the Wesbury, Carle Place areas will be receiving via mail, a beautiful color map of the project, listing participating local businesses and services. The project produced a plethora of new members to our chamber, and the Board of Directors welcomes each and every one. These networking events between and among our membership appears to be more successful with each new event. The Board welcomes all those interested, to attend these sessions, in order to learn more about who we are, and how the Chamber works for its members. Be sure to visit our website at wcpchamber.com in order to keep posted on current and future functions you may care to attend. Up next, is the election of Chamber directors to be held at the Holiday Inn, 369 Old Country Rd. Westbury at 6:30 PM, on May 5th 2009. March 10 : Chamber Meetings & Events
Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at the Holiday Inn, 369 Old Country Rd, in Carle Place.
On March 10th, the Westbury, Carle Place Chamber hosted a Networking Event at the Holiday Inn, Old Country Road, Carle Place.
The guest speaker was Mr. Cyrus Hakakian, present owner of the old theater on Post Ave. in Westbury. A group of business people from the area heard Cyrus speak of his plans to rebuild the theater into a performing art center complex with a small restaurant, and an old fashioned ice cream parlor, reminiscent of days past. His talk was followed by question and answer session that prove to be most informative to his audience.
The networking continued with a grand pre St. Patrick’s collation of Corned Beef, Salads and Drinks, along with interrelation discussions within the group. The Chamber awarded a cash prize to the lucky winner of our 50/50 cash drawing. Our winner, Marjory Giordani, branch manager of State Bank of Long Island, on Old Country Road, Westbury. It seems that money does go to money!!!
