Twenty-Sixth Annual Small Businessperson of the Year (NCCC) honors

At the last legislative breakfast meeting of the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce, Inc, Steve Levy, President of the Westbury/Carle Place Chamber of Commerce was awarded a plaque as the outstanding business person of the year. This annual honor is presented to show recognition for leadership in our communities. The award was presented by Supervisor Kate Murray, of the Town of North Hempstead. Also in the Photo, Garry Hughes, legislator, Steve Levy, and Mark Bonilla, all members of the council. |

Westbury Republican Committee 2010 Annual Breakfast Meeting

The Westbury/Carle Place Chamber of Commerce was among three designated Honoree’s at the Westbury Republican Committee 2010 Annual Breakfast Meeting. Mayor Peter Cavallaro, of Westbury, and Donald Pritchett, owner of three McDonalds in Westbury and Carle Place area were also honored. A large contingent of the Westbury/Carle Place Board members were present, and were recognized by the club for the Chamber’s many contributions to the business communities.

National Night Out
You are invited to attend National Night Out. This event will help with heightened crime and drug prevention awareness. National Night Out will begin with a parade at 5pm on Tues., August 3, 2010. It is a community event and there are opportunities for businesses to set a table free of charge. For more information please see the attached flier. Marjory Giordani will be Co-Chairing the event and is looking for the support of the members of the Westbury/Carle Place Chamber of Commerce.
Also there will be an Essay Contest for the Elementary and High School students. We are looking for some of following items to donate.

Member Luncheon Meeting at Holiday Inn on Old Country Road
Alan Halpern from The Halpern Group, a graphic design & marketing firm, made a presentation at the luncheon: How Can I Get My Business To The Next Level? highlighting three case studies. Comments received include: "A Great presentation", "I really had no idea what your company did", and "Let's talk how you can help us move to the next level." Contact Alan at 338-5100 for a copy of his PowerPoint presentation.
Alan was selected through a business card lottery at the previous meeting. Member luncheon is held at the last Wednesday of every month. A different member will be selected for a presentation at following meeting. This is a great opportunity to inform other members of your company, products and services. It's also important to support this member event. |

Our Spring Net-Working Program
6:30 pm The Bristal. 117 Post Avenue, Westbury
On Tuesday, evening, May 18, at the Bristal on Post Ave. Westbury. The Westbury/Carle Place Chamber of Commerce presented a gathering for Chamber members and their guests for a combined Wine and Cheese tasting, and networking event. Wines produced from a single grape, the nebbiolo, a series of producers wines, from the Piedmont Region of Italy were presented and discussed by Ben Pardo, a chamber board member. Five cheeses accompanied the wimes , along with fruits.Those in attendance expressed their pleasure oat attending this event and look forward to the next Chamber sponsored event. Prizes were distributed to our lucky winners and a 50/50 raffle netted the chamber some much needed revenue.

Korean Night at the Westbury/Carle Place Chamber of Commerce
Wednesday evening, April 28th, at the Westbury Senior Center on Post Ave, Westbury, a gala Korean Night was hosted by the Korean Spirit and Cultural Promotion Project, along with the sponsorship io the Westbury/Carle Place Chamber of Commerce. In attendance were some 100 people, Chamber members, and their guests, all there to enjoy a cultural and culinary treat. Two films were presented, explaining the early history and art of old Chosan , along with a film on modern Korea, and the progress after the war that divided that nation. A grand buffet of Korean specialty foods completed a fine night of cultural exchanges.

Piccolo Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
The Westbury/Carle Place Chamber of Commerce, with its Board Members, on to welcome Piccolo Restaurante into our area. The Grand Opening was held on Friday, January 29, 2010, from noon to 3 PM. Located at 180 Glen Cove Road in Carle Place, and owned by Mr. And Mrs. Tom Valenti Sr. The restaurant serves Italian specialties, and Pizza. A free grand Buffet and full open Bar was available to all who attended. The festivities were broadcast live by radio station B103.5 with announcer The Wise Man Interviewing patrons and distributing gift certificates as prizes for correct answers to trivia questions. |

Holiday Dinner Party
The Westbury/Carle Place Chamber of Commerce held its annual New Year Holiday dinner party at the Westbury Manor Restaurant on Wednesday, January 13th 2010. In attendance were the Officers and Board Members, and people from the business community. All present enjoyed a night of fine dining and wine, along with a DJ for dancing, and a grab bag game with lots of switches, and laughter.
